Easy Oatmeal 3 Ways

In this post I will show you 3 different ways you can top your basic oatmeal recipe to create variation and have a delicious breakfast every morning. I will also share the foolproof formula for a filling and tasty oatmeal that comes out perfect every time.

PB & J oats

First up is my absolute favorite oatmeal combination. I like to call this “peanut butter and jelly oats.” This reminds me of the classic PB&J sandwich but with fresh strawberries and oats instead of jelly and bread. I also love adding mini chocolate chips and toasted coconut and pumpkin seeds for an added crunch.

Cashew Pear Oats

The next variation is Creamy Cashew and Pear Oats. Pears are a perfect addition to oats during the fall when they are in season. I also added cashew butter which pairs perfectly with fresh pears. Again I added toasted coconut, pumpkin seeds and chia seeds for crunch.

My next variation that can be made in the winter or summer time is apple pie oats. Apples are great because they are in season all year long. They are a great option to keep in your pantry all year long as a healthy snack or a breakfast topping. For my apple pie oats I add fresh chopped apples, almond butter, walnuts and maple syrup. It really does taste like apple pie it’s my absolute favorite breakfast recipe.

There are so many variations that you can make with oatmeal. With this foolproof formula oats can be made perfect every time.

  • Start by placing 1/2 cup of rolled oats in a pot (for stovetop oats) or a bowl (for microwave oats).
  • Next add 1 cup of almond milk or milk of choice to the pot or bowl.
  • Add 1/2 tsp of vanilla, 1/4 tsp cinnamon and a pinch of salt.
  • Cook on the stove at medium heat for about 5 minutes or until liquid has mostly been absorbed, stirring occasionally. OR cook in the microwave for 1 and a half to 2 minutes.
  • Add more milk or cook longer depending on how you prefer your oats.
  • lastly is the most important part.. the toppings!
  • Here is the formula for perfect oats: Fresh fruit(apples, pears, strawberries, blueberries) + a nut butter(almond, peanut, cashew) + something crunchy(toasted coconut, chia seeds, walnuts, pecans) + something sweet(chocolate chips, maple syrup, dried cranberries)

Below is the recipe for my personal favorite variations: Apple pie oatmeal.
